From little things, big things grow

Way back in 1997, a very young, blonde Jane was lined up for a week’s work experience in hospitality.

Imagine how different life would be if that eventuated.

Instead, our lovely Jane completed her year 10 work experience for a prominent Real Estate agency in Campbelltown. What started as a week of work experience led to an ongoing weekend reception job whilst she finished high school.

From here, grew her love for Property Management.

Back in the day, you could do your Certificate of Registration as a subject in Year 12. Have we given you enough hints with how old Jane is yet?

Once she completed Year 12, Jane eagerly entered the Real Estate industry at LJ Hooker. Here, she learned the ins and outs of reception and how a Real Estate office operates.

Moving up the ladder

In 2001 she started her first Property Management role for United Real Estate. For the next two years, she worked alongside one of our current clients (and dear friends) Liz, handling 600 properties. 20 years on and the friendship is as strong as ever.

Between 2003 to 2012 Jane worked at various agencies, working her way up to Department Head and running folios from 200 to 500 properties.

There were good times to be had. From climbing onto garbage bins into the window of an abandoned tenancy to rescue a cockatoo left behind by a tenant. Kept tucked up safe and sound in her office until WIRES came to the rescue.

She learned the value of knocking and waiting before doing routines inspections the hard way, after seeing her fair share of naked tenants. Always committed to education, she had to remind a Landlord of the meaning of ‘Quiet Enjoyment’, after a particular Landlord walked in on a tenant in the bath.

A life full of lessons

One of the greatest lessons throughout this time was that of documentation. All it takes is one round at tribunal to cement this lesson forever.

Come 2012, Jane’s thoughts had drifted…

“You know, I love the industry but I don’t think I can deal with Tenants and Landlords anymore. How can I leverage my experience into a different area of Real Estate?”

The best was yet to come…
